I have an addiction, an obsession with my mobile device. I am quite confident I am not the only person with this problem. Do most people wake up at 2am, without an alarm, because subconsciously they know their favorite boutiques site’s new items go live at 2:05am, probably not. However, this same obsession spills over into my mobile recruiting. We are working on everything from A to Z, to make us better, faster and smarter. To mold our processes to the new age, the mobile addiction age. Join the Mobile Addiction Do you ever notice what time a day applicants apply? I do, most of my traffic comes at 8pm to 3am each day. I love the fact that great candidates can reach out to me any time of the day, I do! What I don’t care for is that it has become so easy, we are forgetting to pick up the phone, to network or say hi. I could also just be showing my age, too. I find myself in a pickle, do I get out behind the desk to do these same things all the time to meet these candidates or am I have already become a slave to the mobile addiction in all facets of my life? I tweet, I am an avid user of LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram…. On and on, I use these applications at work and at home. Earlier this year I wanted to track, is making myself so accessible really help or am I just trying to be trendy? I started to use Bitly. Bitly basically allows you to track activity on a web link once converted. I have the app, I check often. Not only did I have activity but there was a direct correlation to the where the candidates said they heard about me. Am I going to go screen free, never. Stop tweeting, and reaching out to the best candidates by not only marketing myself, my organization through various easy to use applications, nope. If you have never used social media or a mobile app to recruit, think about how you last looked for your current role. Have you been in your organization for a while, ask a someone you know in the target market you are recruiting for. Walk backwards through the process, I think you will be amazed at how worth your time and energy the addiction is. Jen Ray Fun Fact: My family often refers to me as the fun sucker. I don’t think because I would rather do anything than go to an amusement park, any sort sporting event (except the Green Bay’s home team), go bowling, or play video games.. Doesn’t make me a fun sucker, I’m just a little boring. .ai-rotate {position: relative;} .ai-rotate-hidden {visibility: hidden;} .ai-rotate-hidden-2 {position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;} .ai-list-data, .ai-ip-data, .ai-fallback, .ai-list-block {visibility: hidden; position: absolute; width: 50%; height: 1px; z-index: -9999;}
